We knew that we wanted to do a zipline at some point in Ecuador. I had done it a while ago in Costa Rica, but Richard had never been! Mindo had a perfect setting & location for it, and only a 1.5km walk from our place! Not sure what Richard's idea of it was, but he figured if I had done it before, should be no problem for him :)
Walking to the start of the zip. Not bad scenery!

My 22 week belly shot! Yay Baby Wyatt!

This bumps up the adrenaline a bit :) I skipped these stunts. Richard was hooked on to the guy, upside down, where he flew however high up, like that.

I had mentioned, I think, that we picked areas to stay because of the "delicate condition" of the pregnancy. So no vaccines needed, and no anti-malaria meds. I also was unable to use products containing Deet, which is in 95% of mosquito repellents. No mosquitos at all in the rainforest. And in the cloudforest, there were some mosquitos, but not terrible amount. However, while waiting for instructions on the zipline I happened to look down at my legs (wearing shorts of course, no idea why) and there were black bugs/flies all over. Started flicking them away, and blood was smearing! So they were biting!! Continued to happen while we did the zipline, but wasn't uncomfortable, just gross. Asked the owners of the lodge that night, and she said that some people have a reaction (similar to mosquito), but many don't. I didn't think much of it. And the rest of the trip was fine, mild itching, but nothing bad at all, considering I didn't take anything, and wasn't bad enough for anti-itch creams. 2 days after we got back home to Oceanside they became unbearable! Itching to the point of total pain. Nothing making them better. Richard was close to taking me to the hospital, because he/we didn't know what to do! Each day a bit better, but this photo was taken last night, a week after we had been home for a week (and over 1.5 weeks since the bites occurred!)
Yes, my legs are hideous!
