There is still a problem with poachers down in the jungle, among other dangers to the animals. When found they are taken in and rehabilitated, and then depending on the animal, released back into the wild, or kept at the center. There are numerous places like this in throughout the country. And they work together to swap out animals, to get mates to continue the reproduction, as some of the animals are becoming rarer and rarer.
One of the saddest (or most inspirational) was a monkey missing his tail and an arm. He had no idea they were missing, or had gotten over it; was able to climb and do (almost) everything the other monkeys did!
We didn't take photos of all of the animals we saw. And some just didn't turn out at all. The big cats were impressive, so beautiful! But a bit shy with us, peeping out but not posing well for our photos! I suppose many of the animals there had reason to be wary of humans :(
So some of these, I can't remember at all what they are. Only a week later!
Wild pig? It's a mama with the baby. At one point it was nursing.

Me trying to feed the giant ostrich (or similar type bird?) It was making a terrible face and sound just before it came at me!! I ended up dropping most of the leaves.
Richard a bit more calm when feeding it.

I think this one if the tapir. Odd, odd looking animal!

Sloth :)
