Our cabin in the Amazon

Wednesday, July 16, 2008

In the rainforest part of our trip we stayed in a little hut/cabin. All activities and tours were included as well as food. Lucky thing, as we were a distance should we have wanted to go elsewhere to do anything.

The owners also operated a small scale farm on the property. Chickens and cows among other things. The cows produced milk which was sold and trucked off every morning. Eggs were all used in cooking at the lodge.

The area was kind of in a clearing area of the jungle, it started back up again about 500 yards from our front door. Rained two out of the four afternoons we were there, which was nice. Richard went on hikes in the rain, while I stayed back and read in the hammock.

Nothing around us!

Inside the cabin. The roofs were waterproof. They are replaced every 2-3 years to remain water-resistant.

Reading :) Richard's must-have for his vacations is a hammock! We brought new camera's handbook for reading material! Still slowly, but surely, figuring it out!

View on one of my rainy afternoons while Richard was off in the jungle :)
